New Members’ Guide to the Club

The Club has 2 courts which are automatically heated in winter.  For the lights use the light meter – with two members it is £4.40 for a 40 min session (£6 for a member + guest).

A door key is issued to you, but remains the property of the Club and must be returned if membership ceases.  Replacement keys cost £5.

A court booking costs 50p for a stamp which should be attached to the booking sheet with your surname printed clearly.  Note restrictions on peak time courts “p”- you may only book one “p” court per week in advance (2 per week for family members).

The School has priority in the hatched periods and these times must not be booked but you may play if courts are free.  These times change between term and vacation time.

The changing facilities include two showers; please pay attention to notices concerning changing as the courts are used by young people as well as men and women.

There is a Club pay phone which may be used to phone in or out, or in emergencies.

Members are encouraged to join the monthly League system in which players move up or down.  A Ladder system also runs in parallel, and league matches count as ladder matches unless the two players agree otherwise.

Club team(s) - contact Tony Summersgill or John Hall if you wish to be considered.

Other competitions are organised throughout the year. The notice board has details.

The Club Committee listens to Members’ issues.  If you want to get things changed please contact a Committee member of which there is a list on the notice board.

Subscriptions are due for renewal on the last Thursday of September.  You will be told of the date and amounts in plenty of time.

An AGM is held in May - an opportunity to vote for the Committee and air your views.

Social activities/event(s) are subsidised by the Club.  Keep an eye on the notice board.

There is a regularly updated list of Members’ details - please help yourself to one.

To get started add your name to the lowest league and you will be included in the following month’s listings or ask to play a member of the Committee and you may be introduced higher up the leagues.
